Sweet Ideas for your Sweet Kiddies' Valentine Table!

This year I am so thrilled to share with you our little Valentine's Day table set-up for Preston and Bella.  Growing up, my sweet mom always made Valentine's Day so special by making a fun, yummy breakfast and little goodies for us to open that morning.  The table was always pretty, and I have just the sweetest memories of this special day throughout my childhood.  My brother and I would always get a sweet, thoughtful card with a note inside.  I remember she would always call me "sweetie pie" in the cards. And I just loved it.  She was the best at making us feel so loved and special on this day that I love to do the same for my kiddies.

After blogging all about the One Spot at Target a couple weeks ago, I just knew the best place to get a lot of my table embellishments would be from there.  Sure enough, I had so much fun incorporating the One Spot items with a few of the Pottery Barn Kids tabletop I had purchased about a month ago.

Because I have a boy and a girl I wanted to be sure not to make it "too girly." Now for me this is usually a challenge (hahaha) but having the placemats, plates, and tumblers from PBK totally gave me more inspiration to work with the reds-- which obviously makes it more "unisex." :)

I started with a piece of burlap that was left over from Preston's Pirate birthday party last year.  I then added a red burlap runner that was also leftover from his party :) It is always key to shop your own supply source before heading out to buy new.  I am always surprised of the treasures I can find by scouring past party supplies and décor.

Then I just kept adding details details details...my favorite part! Because the super cute Valentine flatware I wanted was sold out, I decided to use what we already had and "wrap" it in red damask tissue paper with washi tape so the kiddies could just "unwrap" the utensils on Valentine morning with their special breakfast. :)

I also could not decide between these cute plastic mason jar-esque cups and the PBK tumblers, so I decided the mason jar cups would be their "water" cups, and the tumblers would be for OJ or chocolate milk :) The mason jar cups came from Meijer (truth!) as well as the paper heart straws in the PBK tumblers.  Preston loved the dog, and Bella loved the kitty, so deciding who got what set was very easy when it arrived in the mail. :)

These cute little pails and owl signs came from the One Spot, and I just added the tissue paper and mini clips for an added detail.  The mini heart chalkboards were also a One Spot find, and I thought they would love doing this while we get breakfast ready on Valentine's Day morning :)

I played around with a "centerpiece" but wanted to make sure it was not so tall that they could not see each other and chat at breakfast.  So these little bud vases (again a One Spot find) were perfect with a little Hydrangea in each of them.

As far as the Valentine's Day bunting, my friend Amber made it for me, and I love how it looked on the wall behind the table.  I also added a Valentine garland I blogged about last week, and my favorite was adding the last two years' Valentine's Day cards to each end. :) The first is from 2012 (Bella's 1st Valentine's Day) and the second is 2013.  I so badly wanted to include this years, but I am waiting until Friday :) And I added two of Bella's Jameson-Monroe Chelsea headbands to the end of the bunting for a finishing touch. :)

The owl garland across the front of the table is from Meijer (again can't believe how many cute Valentine's Day goodies they had!) and the other is a One Spot find.  And lastly, I moved the rug in our kitchen that sets under the counter stools at the island to add a more finished look.

With the chair backers, I am going to put their Valentine Card from Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa Mike, and Uncle Zach to open that morning, and also I get them each a little Valentine surprise.

My hope for them on this special day is to know just how much they are loved and how special they are to me and Adam.  They are my world and my purpose; I am so excited to celebrate the special day of love with the two littlest loves in my life.  I am so thankful God gave them to me to be their Mommy.  Having them has taught me a love I never knew existed, and I hope to show them that every single day.

From beginning to end this little set-up only took me about 15 minutes to put together, and it is so worth the little extra time to see their smiling little faces and knowing I am creating memories that they will someday remember-- just like I do from my childhood.

And a little added Valentine fun...I have been doing a 7 Days of Valentine Love this week and have been "hash-tagging" it on Instagram as "7daysofvalentinelove" to share Bella's Valentine's outfits and different Valentine activities the kiddies and I will been doing this week if love :) Here are some Valentine outfits:

I have way too much fun dressing her up, and Valentine's Day is an extra special fun time to do so :)

And for some added fun I have to share  my absolute favorite Valentine decor I picked up at JoAnn fabrics last year; this hangs in my foyer where I change out this spot seasonally. I love it so very much. ;)

Lastly, one of my lovely besties Tasha over at Pearls and Prairies also did an absolutely darling Valentine table for her sweet little girl. Please visit my sweet friend! :)

I hope you enjoyed this fun little Valentine's Day table set-up and hope it can inspire you to do something extra special for your little ones.  I know so many of you do so many special things too and would love to hear your ideas, plans, and/or traditions!
...until next time!

Five on Friday!!

This Friday officially means one more week until Valentine's Day!! This special holiday is near and dear to my heart, and I can't wait to celebrate with the kiddies and make it fun for them. So this weeks Five on Friday has a few little Valentine things ,and a couple Pottery Barn goodies :)

#1)  All week I am making a conscious effort to do or make something fun and memorable with Preston and Bella. I am going to hash tag it on Instagram (username is blychic) as 7 Days of Love!

Also to include with this I laid out Bella's Valentine-inspired outfits for the next week, and I can't wait to dress her for the 7 Days of Love. :) The really neat thing about this was that besides picking up a Valentine shirt, all the others she already had, so I just shopped her closet. A good tip is to just look for anything in your little ones closets that has hearts!

#2) I just love these sweet little garlands from the one-spot at Target! Seriously I do not think I could have made them each for less than what they cost-- $1!!! The burlap & felt make them even cuter. I will hang them around the kiddies' Valentine's Day table. <3

#3) These will be Preston's Valentine's treats for school (with Planes Valentine's attached that have not been written out yet. ;)) But I love how simple and quick they were to put together. The little cellophane baggies were from the one-spot at Target, as well as the chevron washi tape and baker's twine. Simple yet cute for the pre-schoolers. And I did not spend hours on it ;) --even better!

#4) Now on to the Pottery Barn goodies...I have been eyeing this pillow from Pottery Barn for foreverrr, and when it finally went on sale with a $10 coupon they sent in a packet at Christmastime with an order I had, it was the time to buy! ;) I just love how it also was not "ala carte" like so many of their pillows are. The pillow cover & insert came as one already finished pillow! {YAY!} I don't know what it is about the word "nest," but it just screams the ultimate in a cozy, comfortable home surrounded by the ones we love. Every time I walk by or see it, I smile :) And a fellow blogger Erika also has one with the same words that is sooo cute too!! I so wish I had the gorgeous Texas weather though to display it on a chair or bench on my porch like her though! ;)

#5) With the $10 gift card to Pottery Barn also came one to Pottery Barn Teen (of which I have never ordered from them before), and I was pleasantly surprised when scrolling through their website that they had a lot of these canvas storage bins. And even better yet it had a cute mint floral damask pattern and came with a lid! I am always in need of more storage bins, and I loved that this was canvas and a big enough size to store anything from blankets and clothes to toys or crafting items. Now I just need to decide!

Well I hope you have a wonderful weekend and an even more fabulous Valentine week!! <3 Thank you for stopping by and let me know anything fun you're looking forward to this week of love!! :)

...until next time!
